Purpose of Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing mechanical systems for commercial and industrial applications. Collaborating with sales, engineering, and production teams, you will develop products that meet customer needs and drive innovation. A strong background in HVAC systems and a proven record in product testing and improvement are essential.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer specifications and mechanical drawings to understand requirements.
  • Develop conceptual designs, including budgetary costing and compliance documentation.
  • Create detailed engineering designs using 3D and 2D CAD systems.
  • Ensure designs meet specifications and performance criteria.
  • Prepare and develop Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Oversee prototype assembly, testing, and refinement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Compile documentation for product accreditation.
  • Develop technical product documentation.
  • Provide engineering support for products in the field.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless design integration.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in mechanical design.
  • Adhere to Condair’s Quality Assurance System and Health and Safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel (up to 15%) is required, including 2-3 weeks in the UK for training within the first 3 months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in engineering principles and design standards; hands-on prototyping experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects; experience with 3D and 2D CAD, particularly Solid Edge and PLM.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office; valid passport required for travel.
  • Preferred experience in sheet metal design and HVAC systems.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 organization and structural design analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SAP is an asset.
