Civica, a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization founded in 2018, aims to alleviate chronic generic drug shortages and high prices in the U.S. healthcare system. Led by a team of seasoned healthcare and pharmaceutical professionals, Civica has garnered support from over 55 health systems, encompassing more than 1,500 hospitals and one-third of U.S. hospital beds. Job Description:

The Supply Chain Manager, Insulin and External Partners will oversee Civica’s external partnerships and insulin manufacturing and distribution at the Petersburg, VA site. Responsibilities include forecasting, procurement, supply planning, production planning, capacity planning, partner relationship management, and distribution strategy execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary contact for external partners regarding forecasting, material availability, and supply timing.
  • Execute insulin supply chain activities, including logistics and production planning.
  • Manage insulin forecasting between business demand and material requirements.
  • Create and maintain purchase and production orders in the ERP system.
  • Develop and implement the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
  • Oversee logistics for components and products to and from the manufacturing facility.
  • Manage the clinical supply chain for insulin production and testing.
  • Ensure shipping validation of insulin drug substances and products.
  • Oversee product flow from requirements to distribution, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Develop written procedures for insulin procurement, production, and logistics.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and corrective actions for deviations.
  • Support warehouse and supply chain logistics requirements.
  • Assist during regulatory and compliance audits.

Basic Qualifications and Capabilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Project Management, or Procurement in a cGMP environment; parenteral pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • Advanced skills in computer applications (Excel, Word, Visio, ERPs, and PP).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, capable of engaging with all levels of staff.
  • Project Management, Operational Excellence, or Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred.
