Our Youth & Family Services program in Salem is seeking a mental health therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will work in both our Children’s Outpatient Program and Wraparound Program, providing individual and family therapy, conducting mental health assessments, and offering case management and clinical consultations.

We are offering a recruitment bonus, prorated based on FTE:

  • $2,000 bonus for new employees starting from January 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, included in the first paycheck.
  • For those relocating from outside Oregon, we provide:

  • Up to $3,000 reimbursement for moving expenses.
  • $3,000 relocation bonus (prorated based on FTE) upon proof of Oregon residency.
  • Wages:
    Mental Health Therapist 1: $28.67 – $38.42/hr
    Mental Health Therapist 2: $34.78 – $46.60/hr
    A $3.00 wage enhancement will be added for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

    WORK HOURS

  • 40 hours per week with benefits.
  • Typical Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with one late clinic weekly (10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.), flexible based on departmental needs.
  • GENERAL DUTIES
    Mental Health Therapist 2:
    Provide assessments and treatment for individuals and families, including crisis intervention and related duties.
    Mental Health Therapist 1:
    Provide assessments and treatment with oversight from a supervisor, serving individuals and families with less complex needs.

    SUPERVISION
    Both positions work under a supervisor who assigns work and reviews results for effectiveness.

    SUPERVISION EXERCISED
    Neither position is responsible for supervising others, but the Mental Health Therapist 2 may assist in supervising practicum students or volunteers.

    TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Conducting mental health assessments and CANS screenings.
  • Providing individual, family, and group therapy services.
  • Determining eligibility for the Wraparound Program.
  • Collaborating on individual service plans with treatment teams.
  • Maintaining documentation to meet contract and billing requirements.
  • Providing consultation and training on mental health treatment.
  • Developing safety/crisis plans for children.
  • Attending treatment reviews and discharge planning.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or a bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Occupational Therapy with appropriate licensure.
  • Mental Health Therapist 2 requires one year of post-Master’s experience.
  • PREFERENCES:
    Preference for candidates who are LCSW, CSWA, or eligible for LCSW.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be licensed or credentialed as a QMHP within 30 days of employment.
  • Must obtain CANS certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    Knowledge of community mental health concepts and ability to establish positive working relationships.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Ability to operate a vehicle, sit, stand, and perform various physical tasks.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    We offer a retention bonus of $3,000 after six months of continuous employment and tuition assistance up to $20,000 for professional development. Marion County provides a generous benefits package for regular employees working 50% or more of the scheduled work week.
