Established in 1981, Muhlbauer, Inc. serves as both a consultant and manufacturer of automation solutions for the smart card and label industries, catering to private companies and government entities. Their offerings facilitate the production of various chip cards, including ID, contact, and dual interface cards, as well as multimedia cards and smart labels for access control and supply chain management. Muhlbauer’s technology is utilized to personalize Virginia Driver Licenses and other state licenses, enhancing document security against counterfeiting and alterations.

Muhlbauer, Inc. is looking for a Repair Technician to join our Machine Shop in Newport News, VA. This role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing small assembly groups, requiring a solid understanding of mechanical systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Diagnosis and Repair:
  • Inspect and diagnose machinery and equipment issues.
  • Repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components.
  • Replace or repair defective parts using various tools.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
  • Conduct routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Equipment Calibration:
  • Calibrate machinery to meet production and safety standards.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly before service.

Additional Duties:

  • Manage inventory and shipping operations.
  • Handle customer inquiries and schedule repairs.
  • Implement quality control processes.
  • Support financial reporting.
  • Assist the manager with division operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • Experience as a repair technician in a machine shop.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency with tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects.
